About the zine

2023 is the year of the rabbit.
When we think of rabbits, we think of our favourite Mo Dao Zu Shi couple! To celebrate the arrival of a new year, we are creating a zine to feature wangxian, bunny rabbits, and Chinese New Year.Submissions may include/involve bunnies, Chinese New Year, or both in any way! Do try to make it wangxian focus heheExamples:
- Post-novel canon wangxian enjoying an afternoon with the bunnies
- Poof! A bunny?? Oh no! One of them was cursed and turned into a bunny!
- Another boring Chinese New Year family dinner gathering? Who said anything about boring when Wei Wuxian is here!> This is a SFW only zine. <
You are welcome to submit a SFW version of your work and separately post the NSFW version on your own socmed account.

Mod team

Head Mod - In charge of overall zine organization, managing twitter and emails, and primary contact with participants

Layout Mod - In charge of zine layout and formatting, manages submissions, assist with graphics (if and when necessary)

🐇 Mirai 🐇

Graphic Mod - In charge of creating graphics for twitter promotional usage, keeping the other two mods on track

There is no set Art or Writing mod. All mods have experience in both areas and will work as a team. All mods worked on the CUT & SEW: A MXTX Fashion Zine 2021 hosted by MXTX Creative Space Discord server (Twitter @MXTXCreatives).

What is a zine?
Zine is short for fanzine. It is a self published creation produced by fans. Typically, zines feature work from fanartists, fanwriters, and fanmade merchandise.Will the zine be for profit?
This is a free digital zine with merchandise. The zine and merch items are free to use, download, and print.Will contributors receive a physical copy or any sort of compensation?
Contributors will not receive a physical copy or further compensation. This zine is created for fun and not monetary or other gains.

No profit should be made off any
content created for this free zine.

Can the zine PDFs and related merch be printed for personal use and/or viewing?
Yes, the zine PDF and related merch items may be printed for PERSONAL USE only. This includes for printing for friends where there is no monetary exchange for the product(s) itself.Separate rules are listed below for anyone looking into making pay for production (p4p) merch created for the intentions of the zine.Can I do p4p with merch/other content I made for the zine?
If you are the creator, go on ahead! It's your work after all :) We will help promoting by retweeting your posts while the account is still active.If you are not the original creator and wish to do a p4p project on a larger scale, please reach out to the original creator and ask for permission.We, as the mod team, do not own any of the work provided by the participants and cannot grant permission as such.Regardless, no profit should be made on MXTX fancontent as per the regulations set by the original web novel hosting site, JJWXC, and MXTX's own wishes.

Contributors

Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes, we are limiting each creator to two (2) pieces each. You can create one illustration and one fanfic if you wish. Or, you may choose to create two illustrations or two fanfic.There is no limit of merch or doodle submissions.Will someone on the team beta read my fic?
No, we do not have a beta reader on the mod team to read over submissions. Mod Chisie may make minor grammar/spelling edits when she spots any during formatting. If you require a beta reader, be sure to find one and have your fic edited before you submit.How many contributors are you looking for?
We are a free and open zine. We will accept everyone that submits their work.Will I be allowed to post my work on AO3 and social media later on or will it be exclusive to the zine?
Once the zine is posted and available to the public, creators can post their full work on AO3 and social media. However, before that, the mod team ask that contributors do not post anything related to the zine.Can we post a preview on our own accounts?
The short answer is no. Upon submitting your work, we will ask if you would like a spotlight for your submission. If you select yes, we will create a preview of your work and post it on our twitter account according to a schedule.

Zine Content

Are ships allowed in this zine?
As indicated by the title and theme of the zine, the only ship we will be featuring is wangxian. We will not accept any works that separate the ship for other characters, or poly ships involving wangxian.To avoid further ship drama, we will only accept explicitly canon couples in the zine works. Any other ships included in your work should be implied or platonic.[Explicitly canon couples refer to couples that are engaged or married at any point of the series. Luo Qingyang (Mianmian) and her nameless merchant husband is one example. Jin Guangyao and Qin Su is another example.]Would this zine allow for works to include characters from different MXTX works?
Yes, however, wangxian should be the focus or a large part of your piece.
